1. Anyone can cook. Trust me, if I can figure it out, you can too. 2. With that being said, the occasional failed meal is bound to happen. Even the pros set off the smoke alarm every once and a while. Don't let it discourage you! 3. Recipes are guidelines, they aren't set in stone. If you don't like something leave it out or substitute it for something else. (google has a bunch of great substitution recs.) 4. Don't let a fancy name intimidate you. They're usually just that. 5. On that note, don't be afraid to make up fancy names for you food either. After all, making "slow cooked legumes with lardon and diced chien chaud" sounds much more impressive than "beans and weinies" 6. Food savers are more than worth the investment!
